The Harbor Town Recliner – Review

In this review, find out why the Harbour Town is the 3rd best selling recliner in Ottawa and Kingston!

Lina Najia is the assistant manager at La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings & Décor in Kanata. During her four years working at La-Z-Boy Ottawa Kingston, she has helped fit hundreds of customers to their perfect recliner.

Lina describes the Harbor Town as a small recliner chair with a classic look. This chair works well in small rooms and for persons of up to a maximum of 5.4”. It’s a small scale recliner with comfy back and excellent support for someone smaller in stature. The wooden arms are not large or bulky, so that you can reach the handle easily for a smooth recline.

The Harbor Town is a comfortable chair that also comes as a glider, rocker and swivel. You can also purchase a ‘wall away’ with or without power.

Features unique to the Harbor Town recliner:

The Harbor Town recliner is designed for smaller living rooms and smaller spaces in general. It gives you the comfort of a recliner with a lighter silhouette and a sleek, stylish, transitional frame. It has a channel-stitched back, a cushioned headrest and decorative bentwood arms topped with pillow-like padding. Patented La-Z-Boy® technology allows the seat and back to move together or independently for a wide range of reclining positions, with or without raising the leg rest. Use the convenient handle on the outside arm to lift the leg rest for reading, relaxing or watching TV. When you’re not reclining, it’s a relaxing rocker with a smooth, graceful motion.

Features of the Harbor Town Recliner include:

  • Plush, ultra-comfortable recliner
  • Clean, casual style
  • Chaise seat and leg rest
  • Smaller arm posts and thinner arm pads provide a stylish, tailored look
  • Slimmer back design looks less overstuffed

Different chair styles in the Harbor Town:

The Harbor Town Rocking Recliner

The Harbor Town Rocking Recliner is your basic non-power option. Use the convenient handle on the outside arm to raise the leg rest for reading, relaxing or watching TV. When you’re not reclining, it’s a rocker with a smooth, graceful motion.

The Harbor Town Wall Recliner (wall huggers)

The Harbor Town Wall Recliner is the same as the rocker recliner, and you can place it inches from the wall to save space. The wall away is available in manual or power.

The Harbor Town Glider Recliner

Harbor Town Glider Recliner offers a gliding option to the recliner. It provides all the same things like the rocker recliner, when you’re not reclining, it swivels 360 degrees and glides with a graceful motion. The glider works well for new parents looking for a chair to nurse and rock their newborns.

Upholstery / Cover Options

Your choice of fabric or leather upholstery is a pivotal decision when selecting a recliner for your home. The Harbor Town has over 900 hundred cover options so you can custom-create a look that’s uniquely yours. Choose from the latest colours, patterns and textures. There are options to suit every style and budget.

iClean™ select fabric colours included in the variety of fabrics available at the starting price. These fabrics offer a barrier of protection that repels spills before they turn into stains.

A subset of covers are available in “conserve” fabric. Soft, durable, and sustainable “conserve” fabric is made out of recycled water bottles. As many as 110 recycled water bottles are used to create a sofa with this eco-friendly material.

As with conventional furniture fabrics, conserve covers are wear-tested for safety, quality and durability. So, they stay comfortable and beautiful for years after delivery. They come in a wide range of colours and patterns to complement your room.

Seat Cushions:

The Harbor Town rocker recliner comes with a standard seat cushion or upgrades to an Airform™Seat Cushion.

The upgraded Airform™ cushion provides responsive cushioning. It also has contoured support so you can enjoy the ultimate in comfort. The 2″ layer helps reduce pressure with the added benefit of an airform™ layer on the chaise and leg rest for softness and support. This upgrade is a good option if you enjoy a firm seat.

Extra Options:

Handle options: standard wood, left side handle, elongated handle, arc handle (silver), arc left side handle(silver), left elongated handle.

Finish options: brown mahogany

Base options: swivel or tall base

Power options: basic, wall away

Harbor Town recliner cost

The cost of a manual rocker recliner starts in the mid-level range of recliners. See how much a recliner costs.

Power recliners will cost several hundred dollars more than traditional manual recliners. The reason for this is due to the motor and mechanisms included in the construction.

The price of each Power Harbor Town recliner style depends on the options chosen. They range from $1049.99 up to $2500 and upwards for power and other options, such as:

  • Seat cushion
  • Power styles: basic, wall away
  • The fabric chosen (see below)

Your choice of fabric or leather upholstery is a crucial decision and can significantly affect the price of your recliner. With over 900 hundred cover options, you can custom-create a look that’s uniquely yours.

Is the Harbor Town rocker recliner right for me?

Because the Harbor Town is more traditional, some don’t like the look; some are also unsure about the narrow wooden arms. You can go with a slightly larger recliner such as the Rowan or Pinnacle if you would like to try and fit everyone in the family. The Harbor Town really does cater to a smaller sized person.

If you like the petite scaled recliner but would prefer a different style, you could try the Vail recliner; it has more padding/support in the arms.

Try before you buy:  It’s essential to try the Harbor Town recliner before you buy to make sure it’s a good fit for you.

Customer Reviews:

This recliner currently has a five-star rating in North America:

Star - Review

“ La-Z-Boy Chair as Medical Solution!! Bought because of wife getting a knee replacement. Perfect choice with rocker/recliner. Forward motion helps to rise out of the chair. And with pillows, raises knee above heart for recovery. Should be required for surgery.?? [sic]“ Alan & Jan K

Star - Review

“I purchased this recliner in 1994 and used it daily. I am still using it even though the color is worn in areas but otherwise it still works fine. Due to the color problems I have moved it to my bedroom but I sleep in it every night due to health problems and still love it today as much as the day that I purchased it. [sic]” Cptndon

Star Review

“The pillow on the neck area does not quite fit me comfortably. The quality is good. I wish I had purchased the “power” model. It is a good chair. Overall.[sic]”Barbara B
