Unique Features

Starting with unique features, the Ferndale is known as “a reclining chair with understated style and unlimited possibilities,” according to the La-Z-Boy website. 

This is shown with its unique key-shaped arms and a slim, inset back cushion that gives its clean lines and a modern edge. There is also a solid wood base and tapered wood legs that hold this chair together, which adds sophistication to the piece.

And, as mentioned before, this chair has reclining comfort, but not in the way you may think! While you can simply push back on the arms of the chair and adjust the back, the Ferndale does not come with a hidden legrest like the rest of our secret recliners. While it may not have a legrest like our traditional Secret Recliners, you can complete the feel of reclining with the matching ottoman.

The Ferndale Ottoman can be used as an extra seat or a legrest. “These two pieces work hand-in-hand to create a lovely seating arrangement,” says Racha.

The Ferndale also comes as a swivel gliding chair. Built on a 360-degree swivel base, this motion furniture piece will keep you at the center of all the action in your living room. The gliding option, allows your chair to move in a smooth and graceful motion, similar to rocking chairs. The only difference is the motion is not arched but linear. 

Size & Dimensions

The size and dimensions of the Ferndale tell us a lot about its shape. Most notably, the Ferndale has a small footprint but a tall back.

Even though the Ferndale is small, it has a taller back than other chairs, which seats those with a taller scale. “This is also because of the higher wood legs, too,” Racha says. 

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

That being said, this modern furniture piece comfortably seats anyone with a height between 5’10” and 6’2”.

The Ferndale is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

Is the Ferndale Right For You?

Now that you know everything about the Ferndale Chair, all that remains is determining if this chair is the right furniture for you. To figure this out, we must take a look at budget, functionality, and style.

First of all, the starting price for the Ferndale is considered mid-price at La-Z-Boy, according to Racha. She also mentions that it is more expensive than stationary furniture but less expensive than recliners. 

Since La-Z-Boy is considered more expensive than other furniture stores on the market, it is important to consider that before purchasing our furniture. If you want to purchase furniture that will last a long time but isn’t too expensive, the Ferndale might be right for you!

In terms of functionality, the Ferndale is perfect for taller individuals looking for a chair that won’t take up too much space. Because of this, shorter individuals may not feel as comfortable sitting down on this furniture item.
