About the Mackenzie Furniture Family

All Mackenzie furniture frames each share the same unique features. 

The Mackenzie furniture family is described as timeless and on-trend, featuring a sophisticated look and blending easily with any existing living room pieces. 

This traditional furniture has rolled, pleated arms, foam back, and ComfortCore cushions that deliver just the right amount of comfort and support for a short or long sit.

The look is topped off with decorative wood legs that add the perfect touch of tradition to an already contemporary piece.

Nicole says that this furniture family is arguably one of the most traditional furniture options that La-Z-Boy has to offer. “Most of the traditional look comes from Mackenzie’s big rounded arms,” she says.

She also says that Mackenzie’s cushions are definitely more firm than other furniture cushions, but still offer the same amount of comfort as other furniture products. Nicole says, “It’s not too firm and it’s not too soft, which makes it a good in-between.”

Nicole explains that these products are better suited for individuals with a height of 5'6" and under. What’s more, the cushions are very shallow, which is probably why it requires someone with an average to smaller scale to sit comfortably on these furniture seats.

At an additional cost, Mackenzie cushions can also be upgraded to include firmer cushioning, meaning over time, your furniture will remember your unique figure and enhance the comfort of your furniture. Pillow Options

The Mackenzie Chair & a Half and Sofa come with pillows, which means you can customize those as well. You can accessorize your pillows by adding an accent colour to them, as well as contrasting welt, cording or fringe. What's more, there are also 6 select accent pillow options to choose from, which will not increase the price of your furniture.

If you want to get specific, you can also request feather padding for your pillows instead of the usual foam padding.

Queen Sleep Sofa Upgrade

The Mackenzie Sofa comes in many different configurations, one being a queen sleep sofa. With the Mackenzie Supreme-Comfort Queen Sleep Sofa, you can turn any living room into a guest room. 

Along with the unique features of the original sofa, the Mackenzie queen sleeper offers overnight guests a queen-size supreme comfort quilted innerspring mattress that measures 5.5” thick.

The sleeper mattresses can be upgraded to include either a Slumber Air mattress, which is an inflatable air mattress for extra adjustability, or a firmer mattress that provides a more solid sleeping surface, similar to the firm cushion upgrade.

Lastly, Mackenzie’s wood leg finish can be customized as well. Any Mackenzie furniture item can come in one of four finish options:

Is the Mackenzie Furniture Family Right For You?

However, one particular demographic he sees wanting this furniture family more is older individuals. “This is probably because of the old-timey look that the Mackenzie has,” he says.

Nicole notes that our older clientele appreciates the Mackenzie for its tight back and firm seat cushions, which provide extra support. However, there is a balancing act with Mackenzie’s comfort. 

Because this furniture family sits taller individuals more comfortably, some older people might not hit that height category. After all, the average height of a person shortens with age and most people have an average height of 5’9”.
