With any furniture store, there are bound to be some best-sellers. These popular items dazzle the La-Z-Boy showrooms, but believe it or not, there is even more selection to be discovered.  

The Natalie furniture family, for example, has been around for quite some time but is not considered a best-seller, according to Tim Young, a design consultant at La-Z-Boy Hunt Club.

“What you see in the showrooms are what we consider best-sellers,” he says, “but, unfortunately, the Natalie hasn’t been on our floors in a while.”

Even though it may not be one of our most popular furniture families, this does not mean it should be forgotten or left in the corner untouched!

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of this furniture family, let’s familiarize ourselves with the available furniture frame options that the Natalie has to offer…

Natalie Chair

First, the Natalie is available as a stationary chair, meaning you can enjoy individualized comfort in style.

Natalie Loveseat

Second, the Natalie stationary loveseat is available for those smaller intimate spaces, perfect for seating friends, family, and couples who want to snuggle up to their special someone.

Natalie Sofa

Lastly, the stationary sofa can seat up to three people for any family-friendly relaxation. It also includes two 18’ accent pillows that you can customize.

Natalie Ottoman

Additionally, whether it is used as a footrest, extra seating, or a cocktail table, you can pair any of the aforementioned furniture frames with the Natalie Ottoman.

Unique Features

Referring to all furniture frames in the Natalie furniture family, there are many unique features included.

Known as an easygoing blend of comfort and style, this mid-scale sized furniture family features flared rolled arms, decorative wood legs, and welt trim on the arm posts.

The Natalie also includes ComfortCore cushions, which provide just the right amount of optimal comfort for a long or short sit.

Tim states, “The Natalie has a more traditional look because of the rolled arms, which are normally the indicator for traditional looking furniture items.” Tim also says that the tight back gives it “a clean and neat look,” which helps accentuate the traditional styling of the furniture.

Although the Natalie is known as a traditionally styled furniture family, you can still change the look of these furniture items drastically with the help of some unique fabric covers, which we will discuss later in this article.

Sizes & Dimensions

It is important to consider the size of the Natalie furniture in your home. The best way to do this is by comparing the Measurements in your room along with the dimensions of the Natalie to ensure that both the room and furniture will complement each other. 

Tim explains that the size and dimensions of the Natalie are “an average size for a furniture frame.” With this, the Natalie will fit nicely in most average-sized spaces.

It is also important to consider the size of the Natalie in comparison to your unique height and body type.

Given that the Natalie features a bit of a taller scale, the Natalie is most comfortable for those between the height of 5’10” to 6’2”. 

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

When looking at Natalie’s options and upgrades, there are plenty to choose from. It is important to remember that all options and upgrades come at an additional cost, meaning the price of your Natalie furniture is subject to increase. 

Fabric Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

The Natalie comes in 5 different select fabric colours. These fabric options do not increase the base price of your Natalie.

If you choose to purchase any fabrics outside of the select covers, please note that an additional fee will apply.

Pillow Options

The Natalie can come with pillows, which means you can customize those as well. You can accessorize your pillows by adding an accent colour to them, as well as contrasting welt, cording or fringe. Luckily for you, the Natalie furniture family also includes 3 additional select accent pillow options, meaning those will not affect your price.

If you want to get specific, you can also request feather padding for your pillows instead of the usual foam padding.

Queen Sleep Sofa Upgrade

The Natalie stationary sofa comes in another variation, including a queen sleeper sofa. With this option, you can easily turn your living room into a sleepable guest room.

Along with the unique features of the original sofa, the Natalie queen sleeper offers overnight guests a queen-size supreme comfort quilted innerspring mattress that measures 5.5” thick.

The sleeper mattresses can be upgraded to include either a Slumber Air mattress, which is an inflatable air mattress for extra adjustability, or a firmer mattress that provides a more solid sleeping surface, similar to the firm cushion upgrade.

Leg Finish Options

Finally, Natalie’s wood leg finish can also be customized. Any Natalie furniture item comes in one of four finish options:

3. Graphite (Additional Cost)
4. Driftwood (Additional Cost)

Cost

In terms of cost, Tim notes that the Natalie furniture products fall within the mid-price range at La-Z-Boy. 

While the cost of the Natalie furniture is considered quite standard at La-Z-Boy, it is important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered more expensive in the market. This cost is reflected in the quality of materials and craftsmanship of our products. 

With this, the investment tends to be worthwhile if you are looking for long-lasting furniture.

The Natalie is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushion, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given period of time.

Is the Natalie Furniture Family Right For You?

Now that you know everything you need to know about the Natalie, is this the right furniture family for you? You might already know the answer to this question, but if not, let’s take a look at the cost, functionality, and style one last time.

First, in terms of your budget, La-Z-Boy, as mentioned before, tends to be more expensive than some other furniture stores. 

It is up to you to decide if you want to invest in good quality furniture that will last you a long time or purchase other furniture products that are cheaper but not the best quality.

If you’re willing to spend more initially and save in the long run, shopping at La-Z-Boy is the right decision for you.

In terms of functionality, the Natalie can work well in many different-sized rooms. Tim says, “the loveseat is perfect for smaller spaces, while the sofa and chair combo work well in a bigger living room.”

However, people with an abnormal height may not find this furniture as comfortable as those with an average height. “If you’re short, you might not be able to reach the headrest, and if you’re too tall, you’re head might feel not supported by the sofa,” says Tim.

Lastly, Tim expresses how much of a traditional style this furniture family is. “The sofa especially is a classic La-Z-Boy look, which might not bode well with our younger audiences.”

Tim also says that this furniture family goes well with La-Z-Boy’s older audience that “isn’t looking for all the bells and whistles of a recliner. A simple stationary piece is all they need.”
