 About the Harbor Town Recliner

Harbor Town ReclinerThe Harbor Town recliner is designed for smaller living rooms and smaller spaces in general. It gives you the comfort of a recliner with a lighter silhouette and a sleek, stylish, transitional frame. It has a channel-stitched back, a cushioned headrest and decorative bentwood arms topped with pillow-like padding.

Patented La-Z-Boy® technology allows the seat and back to move together or independently for a wide range of reclining positions, with or without raising the leg rest. Use the convenient handle on the outside arm to lift the leg rest for reading, relaxing or watching TV.

The Harbor Town is available in three styles: the Rocking Recliner, the Wall Recliner, and the Gliding Recliner.

The Rocking and Gliding recliner can move in a smooth and graceful motion while the wall recliner can fully recline while still being mere inches away from a wall. With the Rocking Recliner, the Harbour Town moves in an arched position, while the Glider recliner moves in a linear motion.

To learn more about the comparison between a Rocker Recliner and a Glider Recliner, take a look at this article.

In terms of sizing, Lina describes the Harbor Town as a small recliner chair with a classic look. This chair works well in small rooms and for individuals of up to a maximum of 5.4".

“It’s a small-scale recliner with a comfy back and excellent support for someone smaller in stature. The wooden arms are not large or bulky so you can reach the handle easily for a smooth recline,” she says.

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable.

Ultimately, we recommend always taking a sit test to see if the Harbor Town suits your body type. To learn more, take a look at How to Find a Recliner That is The Best Fit For You.

Harbor Town Recliner Options & Upgrades

When looking at Harbor Town’s options and upgrades, there are plenty to choose from. It is important to remember that all options and upgrades come at an additional cost, meaning the price of your furniture is subject to increase.

Upholstery Cover Options

When selecting the fabric or leather for your Harbor Town Recliner, the cost will vary based on the grade you choose. Select fabrics will not affect the starting price of your furniture, but anything beyond that will.

This includes select leather and anything inside our leather selections at La-Z-Boy.

For a comprehensive understanding of La-Z-Boy's upholstery grades, check out this article.

*Please note that this article's leather or fabric options may be discontinued or unavailable without prior notice. We recommend contacting your local Ottawa, Gatineau or Kingston La-Z-Boy store by phone or in-person to confirm availability. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by any changes to our upholstery selection.

Alongside our extensive range of covers, the Harbor Town is also available in specialty fabrics that offer unique features and benefits…

  • Stain Resistant: Innovative iClean Technology surrounds each fabric fibre, creating a barrier that repels spills before turning into stains.
  • Pet Friendly: Tested and formulated to withstand the scratches and wear that a pet can cause to ensure a durable and easily washable fabric.
  • Antimicrobial Fabric: Antimicrobial properties surround each fibre to protect against mould, mildew and odour-causing bacteria.
  • Performance: Superior stain and fade resistance properties make fabrics easy to clean and incredibly durable.
  • Eco-Friendly: Conserve Sustainable Fabrics are soft, durable and made from recycled water bottles.

Cushion Upgrade

At an additional cost, Harbor Town cushions can also be upgraded to include firmer cushioning, meaning over time, your furniture will remember your unique figure and enhance the comfort of your furniture. This could be a great option for people with mobility issues, allowing you to get in and out of your furniture more comfortably.

Handle Options

To add more style to your La-Z-Boy manual recliner, you have the option to customize the length and material of the convenient reclining handle.

At an extra cost, you can opt to elongate the handle if you find it too short for your comfort.

Additionally, you can choose from a variety of materials for the handle, including wooden, brushed nickel, or matte black. The chrome handle can also be elongated, matching the wooden one in size.

What’s more, for all left-handed users, you can change your handle from the standard right side to the left. This also comes at an additional cost.

Optional Swivel Base

If you're interested, the Harbor Town rocking recliner is available with a swivel base for an extra cost. La-Z-Boy's swivel bases provide a 360-degree rotation, allowing you to easily turn and face any direction.

You can also upgrade your swivel base into a power swivel recliner, which can swivel at the touch of a button. The power swivel base, however, only rotates 165 degrees to prevent the power cord from getting tangled within the furniture frame.

Harbor Town Recliner Cost

Looking at the cost of the Harbor Town, this furniture piece falls within the low-mid price range at La-Z-Boy. This is possibly due to the arms needing fewer materials overall for the construction of the piece.

While the cost of the Harbor Town furniture is considered standard at La-Z-Boy, it is important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered more expensive on the market. This cost is reflected in our products' quality of materials and craftsmanship. With this, the investment tends to be worthwhile if you are looking for long-lasting furniture.

Please note that La-Z-Boy prices listed in this article are subject to change without notice. Information is current as of December 13th, 2024. Contact your local La-Z-Boy Ottawa, Gatineau and Kingston stores by phone or in person for up-to-date pricing.

Is the Harbor Town Recliner Right For You?

So, now that you have a better understanding of the Harbor Town recliner, you might be wondering if this recliner is the right item for you. To help you with your decision, here are some quick things to consider about this grand recliner.

Because the Harbor Town is more traditional, some don’t like the look and are also unsure about the narrow wooden arms. You can go with a slightly larger recliner such as the Rowan or Pinnacle if you would like to try and fit everyone in the family. The Harbor Town really does cater to a smaller-sized person.

If you like the petite-scaled recliner but would prefer a different style, you could try the Vail recliner, it has more padding and support in the arms.

In terms of budget, it's worth noting that the Harbor Town recliner falls within the mid to high price range, making it more of an investment for some.

However, if you find the cottage rustic aesthetic appealing and are willing to spend more on your furniture pieces, the Harbor Town could be the perfect option for you.

Additionally, there is the option of furniture financing available, which can help alleviate the burden of paying the full amount upfront.

So, if you're looking for a recliner that combines comfort, style, and a touch of cottage charm, the Harbor Town is worth considering.
