When you think about furniture delivery, most people tend to think about their furniture arriving at their house. Since this is the only time we ever interact with furniture delivery services, that’s the only part of the process that’s relevant to us.
But what about the other parts of the service that we don’t see? What steps do local furniture stores in Ottawa or Kingston take to help with our furniture delivery?
At La-Z-Boy Ottawa and La-Z-Boy Kingston, some of our delivery team is only responsible for furniture delivery, while others are also involved in handling warehouse problems, such as assembling and repairing furniture.
With that being said, what do these different delivery services for furniture look like, and what can you expect from La-Z-Boy’s delivery team?
In This Article…
La-Z-Boy Ottawa and Kingston has four locations to shop at. But you might be wondering, is there a La-Z-Boy furniture delivery service near me? The only furniture store in Ottawa that has a warehouse is the Cyrville location. Luckily, the team can deliver from any location within Eastern Ontario and Gatineau.
Because Cyrville is the only location with a warehouse, all of the furniture that customers order is brought here.
Unlike some moving companies, the warehouse workers prep the furniture to see if everything is in tip-top shape for delivery day.
According to the delivery team, La-Z-Boy opens up shipped boxes of living room furniture to see if it is good and up to their standards. Other furniture stores and moving companies in Ottawa, however, simply leave the furniture in the box without seeing it until it is delivered to someone's house.
Each order undergoes a checklist of tests in the warehouse to ensure the furniture meets our quality standards before it is delivered to our customers. This checklist includes…
But you might be wondering, how do they know which furniture pieces should be tested again? Each furniture order is prioritized by the furniture delivery service’s pick list. According to the delivery team, the pick list essentially keeps the orders organized and in order of delivery.
Each piece of furniture gets tested upon arrival and two days before delivery day.
During the testing process, or even after your furniture is delivered, there is always the possibility of having a problem with your furniture. Regardless of the situation, the delivery team at La-Z-Boy can reasonably solve the issue.
In the case of furniture repair, La-Z-Boy's delivery team collaborates with the service department to address the issue and communicate with the customer to resolve it. To learn more about What to Expect from La-Z-Boy’s Service Department, take a look at this article.
*It is important to note that the service department is currently experiencing higher call volumes than usual, which they are currently working on fixing. As a result, it may take longer than usual to communicate with us. This may also impact the delivery team, causing some furniture repairs to take longer than expected.
If there’s a problem before your La-Z-Boy furniture, there are a couple of ways the delivery team can fix the issue. For example, the two main solutions that can happen.
The first scenario revolves around standard furniture orders. If there is a problem with a certain La-Z-Boy recliner or other items in stock, the delivery team can pull from what they have in the warehouse and use that same frame to give to the customer.
Because the furniture frame is the exact model, the customer wouldn't even know the frame was switched.
However, a different process is involved if the furniture has been custom ordered. Custom Furniture is not generic, meaning this furniture frame is unique, and there are no other pieces like it.
If the furniture frame is custom ordered, the warehouse must return it to the manufacturers so they can continue repairing the furniture. This, unfortunately, would mean that your furniture could take longer than expected.
A service technician is someone from the delivery team who comes to inspect your furniture if there is a problem after your furniture is delivered.
Though not necessary for all problems, service technicians only show up when the issue can’t be resolved with the service department. Depending on the severity of the issue, service techs can either fix the issue while on site or have to bring the furniture back to fix it. They assess the situation initially through a phone call to see how severe the problem is.
An example of a minor issue that can be fixed on-site is replacing the handle on the La-Z-Boy recliner. According to the delivery team, you must wait for the part to get delivered and reinstall it with minimal effort. In fact, it is one of the more common problems that the service department handles.
Furthermore, problems with new or older furniture can be fixed regardless of how long you’ve owned it. Thanks to La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty, core components, like reclining latches and levers, are guaranteed for life.
If the furniture repair is more severe, the delivery team can replace the furniture if protected under the warranty. This process is similar to when the furniture is damaged before delivery.
La-Z-Boy guarantees that certain core components, including metal internal parts and anything related to the frame, will last for the life of the furniture. These components are typically designed to fit one-size-fits-all situations.
To help further protect your purchase, La-Z-Boy Ottawa & Kingston also offers an Extended 5-Year Protection Plan.
It is important to note that any standard scenario for repairing furniture can be easily done due to La-Z-Boy’s construction on the product.
All La-Z-Boy living room furniture products are built modularly, meaning most issues can be resolved by disassembling the furniture and repairing the affected part separately. This makes it easier for our service technicians to assess and fix the problem without damaging other La-Z-Boy furniture components.

On any given day, La-Z-Boy’s furniture delivery service has to deliver furniture to multiple locations. According to the delivery team, one delivery truck can hold up to 40 furniture items, with a limit of 20 delivery stops daily.
Before delivery, the team double-checks if every order is correct and if everything is still working. Two delivery people work together to deliver furniture to customers’ homes, ensuring all products get to their destination safely.
La-Z-Boy notifies you when the delivery team is on its way and provides a tracking link that lets you know their location in real-time. This way, even if you're not home, you can stay informed about their expected arrival time.
It is important to remember to clear any obstacles within your driveway, such as shovelling snow/de-icing driveways in the winter or clearing any cars so our workers can safely deliver furniture to your house.
When arriving at a customer’s home, one of the furniture delivery workers does a walkthrough of the house to see what’s the best path to safely deliver the furniture. While that happens, the other delivery worker will prepare the products from the delivery truck by placing them close to the house.
During the walkthrough, the delivery team will take notice of any obstacles that may interfere with the delivery path. If there are any big obstacles, they may ask you to shift furniture or other objects around so that nothing gets damaged.
Once all of the obstacles are assessed, the furniture delivery workers can successfully deliver furniture to your respected room!
Although many furniture delivery teams already take this step, measuring the delivery path, including entryways and room space, is important to ensure that the delivery team can access your home easily and efficiently. This can help streamline the furniture delivery process and ensure a faster, more convenient experience for you.

Everyone knows that accidents can happen, even at the most inconvenient of times. Unfortunately, not all deliveries are successful, and some damages could occur to your furniture when transporting or carrying it.
If there is a problem, the delivery furniture service team will notify the customer to contact the service department. The service department then has a 48 to 72-hour window to contact the customer about their issue and advise them of the next steps.
If you require furniture repair at any given moment, finding the ACK Number on your furniture is important.
When delivering furniture to your home, La-Z-Boy’s delivery furniture service team also offers a one-for-one moving service.
This means that if you are getting rid of a La-Z-Boy furniture item in favour of the newly delivered furniture piece, La-Z-Boy’s furniture delivery services can take the unused furniture item off your hands in exchange for the new product.
If you’re asking to dispose of old furniture in a landfill, there is a $50 fee for each furniture seat you get rid of. If you ask to dispose of a sofa bed, the fee is $200. For an additional fee of $25 per furniture piece, we can assist with either moving out old furniture from different rooms or bringing it to the curb.
