About La-Z-Boy's Bleach Cleanable Fabrics

Bleach Cleanable Fabrics by La-Z-Boy is the latest line of fabrics introduced to our large catalogue of upholstery covers. 

These new resilient fabrics can withstand diluted bleach products for the toughest stains. Unlike our iClean fabrics, which are already stain-resistant and tackle tough stains head on, bleach cleanable fabrics offer better protection against even tougher stains when regular soap and water fail.

But how does this work exactly? How are bleach-cleanable fabrics able to withstand diluted bleach as opposed to other fabrics La-Z-Boy offers?

Most fabric that specializes in tolerating bleach uses polypropylene upholstery, which is designed to repel stains naturally due to their non-porous qualities. These materials are great for high traffic areas or for homes with pets and children, where messes and spills are common.

How to Clean with Bleach Cleanable Fabrics?

While Bleach Cleanable Fabrics are meant to tolerate diluted bleach, it is important to note that bleach can still harm these upholstery covers if used liberally. 

Although most spills and stains can be easily cleaned with soap and water, you can get rid of tougher stains using 1 part bleach to 10 parts of water. For example, if you’re using 14.5oz of water, use 1,5oz of bleach to dilute it. 

If you are not conservative with your bleach, you might risk doing more harm than good. Once you’ve combined the bleach with water, continue with the following steps:

1. Apply the solution using a misting spray bottle and allow the solution to soak into the fabric for a few minutes.
2. Gently scrub with a soft brush. Rinse your brush frequently.
3. Blot and thoroughly rinse the fabric with water until the stain is cleaned.
4. Allow fabric to air dry.

Now that you’re aware of how to use these bleach cleanable fabrics, what kind of covers are available at La-Z-Boy?

Currently, Bleach Cleanable Fabrics come in 10 different patterns. Since these specialty fabrics are a new introduction to our furniture cover selection, La-Z-Boy may release more options in the coming months. 

As for leather upholstery, there are currently no bleach cleanable leathers. However, La-Z-Boy has an extensive Leather Program that includes many different leather colours and textures. 

Cost of Bleach Cleanable Fabrics Upgrade

The cost of your Restore fabric depends on a few factors, including fabric grade and the furniture frame it comes in.

Fabric Grade

Believe it or not, there are varying degrees of how expensive a fabric cover is to make, which La-Z-Boy identifies by using a fabric grading system.

Each grade is designated with an alphabetical letter, starting at grade A, the least expensive. Durability, the complexity of the weave, the type of fibre, the construction of the fabric, and the thread count also impact the fabric's grade. 

Since bleach-cleanable fabrics can go up to a “Q” fabric grade, the cost to add a bleach cleanable fabric will be higher than adding lower-grade specialty fabric covers.

Furniture Frame

Lastly, furniture frames vary in size and functionality, so your chosen frame will affect the price. Furniture frames can be either an accent chair, a recliner, a loveseat, a sofa or a sectional. It also depends if the furniture is Stationary or Reclining.

Bleach Cleanable Fabrics Warranty

Like all of our fabrics, Bleach Cleanable Fabrics are covered under La-Z-Boy’s manufacturer’s warranty. 

La-Z-Boy’s warranty protects your products from manufacturing defects, not accidents or normal wear associated with everyday use. Although La-Z-Boy upholstery, especially specialty performance covers, are high-quality and durable, nothing lasts forever. With regular use, they are susceptible to normal wear over time.

With this, the Bleach Cleanable Fabrics covers have 1 year of coverage. 

If you wish to have additional coverage that extends beyond the manufacturer’s warranty, you may consider La-Z-Boy Ottawa, Gatineau and Kingston’s Furniture Protection Plan. At an additional cost, this plan extends your warranty coverage for 5 years.
