We all know what a La-Z-Boy sofa looks like. You see the three separate cushions, the big cozy arms and maybe even two pillows to help compliment the look. While you might think it’s a nice and classic design, you might be growing tired of the same look from your sofa.

Wouldn’t it be nice to change stuff around and have things be completely different? Well, with this new furniture family from La-Z-Boy, you certainly can.

The Emric furniture family is a style you’ve probably never seen in any furniture store in Ottawa or Kingston. Blake Berry, one of La-Z-Boy Kingston’s design consultants, says that the Emric is making a name for itself, especially as one of the smaller sofas in our furniture selection.

However you might be wondering, what makes this furniture family so special, and is this the right frame for you? Let’s take a look at the Emric and see what it has to offer!

Emric Furniture Family (Available Frame Options)

Before we take a dive into the deep end, let’s familiarize ourselves with the frames featured in the Emric Furniture Family.

Emric Stationary Sofa

First of the two is the Emric stationary sofa, which is great for those looking for a family-friendly spot for everyone to enjoy. The Emric Sofa also comes in an apartment-sized frame, which allows smaller households to welcome this comfortable item in their homes.

Emric Modular Sectional Sofa

There is also the Emric Modular Sectional, which is a unique La-Z-Boy Sectional that is perfect for larger gatherings. 

This sectional is unique in the way that one side does not have an arm, but instead a chaise cushion that bleeds outside the frame for a more contemporary look. This is similar to the bumper chaise from our new Draper Sectional, but not as large. 

The Emric sectional features both left and right chaise seats as well as loveseat modules, which, when combined, create the beloved L-shape characteristic of sectional sofas.

Unique Features

Now that we're acquainted with the furniture frames, let's delve into the specific features and benefits they provide.

The Emric is a newer contemporary furniture frame from La-Z-Boy that features slim shelter-style track-style arms, a low back and clean lines for a spacious appearance.

It is also very evident that the Emric breaks traditional seating norms with its one single-bottom cushion. “This allows for a cleaner look than other furniture frames and because there’s no separation between the cushions, more than three people can sit comfortably on the sofa frame,” says Blake.

The Emric also features a single king lumbar pillow, which is similar to the single seat cushion and a longer accent pillow that offers more support for not just one person, but two!

Sizes & Dimensions

Before adding any kind of new furniture to your space, no matter how large or small it is, it is important to measure your space.

According to Blake, the Emric is mid-range in-depth, meaning the seat cushions are deep but not as deep as other furniture frames offered at La-Z-Boy. However, those who might be older may prefer a firmer cushion than this one.

What’s more, the Emric is also great in the fact that it can fit large and small spaces, depending on the frame you choose. However, because of the deeper seats, the dimensions estimate that this furniture family might be more suitable for those with an average to taller height.

While your height can be a considerable factor, it is important to note that height guidelines are NOT set in stone. The way you sit in a furniture item can drastically affect how someone might find a seat comfortable. 

Ultimately, we recommend that you visit a La-Z-Boy showroom and take the Emric for a sit test with the help of a La-Z-Boy design consultant.

All upholstery furniture at La-Z-Boy is customizable. Give the Emric sectional your own personal touch by choosing from a range of options and upgrades.

It is important to note that by selecting any options and upgrades in this section, the cost of the Emric product is subject to increase.

Fabric Options

La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers to choose from, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

The Emric sectional couch has 5 select fabric covers to compliment its unique frame. Blake notes that most colours are darker in shade, but can go well with multiple different contemporary styles.

Select fabrics are included in the starting price of the Emric. Non-select fabrics or leathers will incur an additional cost.

Pillow Options

The Emric sofa and modular sectional pieces come with an extra-long pillow, which can be customized as well. You can accessorize your pillow by adding an accent colour to it, as well as contrasting welt, cording or fringe.

If you want to get specific, you can also request feather padding for your pillows instead of the usual foam padding.

Wood Finish Options

Finally, Emric’s wood legs can be customized as well. There are 3 wood finish colours that are available

Cost

In terms of cost, Emric’s modern sectional falls within the low to mid price range at La-Z-Boy. 

While the cost of the Emric is quite standard at La-Z-Boy, it is important to note that La-Z-Boy furniture is considered expensive on the market. This cost is reflected in the quality of materials and craftsmanship of our products. 

With this, the investment tends to be worthwhile if you are looking for long-lasting furniture.

Warranty

The Emric is covered by La-Z-Boy’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the frame, spring systems, and mechanism, given that they are quality-crafted and built for long-lasting comfort.

While still quality-crafted, other aspects of the product, such as fabrics, leather, and cushions, are not meant to last a lifetime. However, these parts are still covered by the La-Z-Boy Manufacturer’s Warranty for a given time.

Is the Emric Furniture Family Right For You?

After learning all of this important information about the Emric furniture family, you might still be wondering if this is the right furniture for you. If you’re still unsure, here are a couple of factors you should consider before purchasing this furniture item.

Firstly, your budget should be a considerable factor when purchasing furniture. Yes, we understand that our furniture is a little more expensive than other furniture stores in Ottawa and Kingston. However, this does not mean that our products will need replacing in the near future as well. 

Because our furniture is built with quality sustainable materials, La-Z-Boy ensures that your furniture will last a long time without needing to be replaced. If you’re willing to spend more initially and save later, the Emric could be right for you.

In terms of functionality, the Emric can be a great choice for anyone looking for a frame that can fit any space and any average seater. Regarding the sectional, some may feel as though the limited configuration options may not be worth the price of the Emric.
